Kelheim Fibres GmbH is the world’s leading producer of viscose speciality fibres. Our viscose fibres are used in the most diverse of applications ranging from fashion, tampons, hygiene and medical products to the paper and wetlaid industries – and increasingly in technical end uses.
High quality, innovation and functionality are the characteristics of our products: at our in-house pilot plants, our R&D team creates fibres that offer added value for the end product.
Viscose fibres are made from 100% renewable natural cellulose and are therefore fully biodegradable. They represent an environmentally friendly alternative to other materials or additives. At the same time, viscose fibres can be produced at consistently and precisely defined high quality standards, meeting our customers’ technical and hygiene requirements.
Mobility, electrical appliances, buildings: Kelheim Fibres contributes to energy saving: Viscose dry short cut fibres with an extremely fine titre are processed along with pyrogenic silica to vacuum insulation panels (VIPs). With their specific properties, Viscose fibres serve for reinforcement and allow for permanent dimensional stability.
Vacuum insulation panels offer the same insulation effect as rock wool with only one tenth of material thickness. They are used for example in refrigerators and freezers, as well as in building insulation. Transport logistic that needs an uninterrupted cold chain is another promising future market for these speciality fibres.
